Wicked bird, bill, and BKGR. I'd opt for a Linear Burn on the few areas of brightest WHITEs. AIA I love it!

Stunning sharp portrait! Cleanly executed! I also love the details in the bill. Very minor, but I agree with Artie's comment that a few bright white areas could be darkened a bit.

Ray, Though areas that are Linear Burned do look a bit darker what we are really doing is restoring density and detail. :S3:

Here's a LB version with 50% opacity and did Select > Color Tone > Highlights and duplicated layer with 1% feather.
