I love photographing Dahlias.

Nikon D300, Sigma 105mm macro, tripod, indoors, natural light, f16, 1/5 sec., ISO 320. PP: Elements 7 & PS7: clone, crop, levels, curves, selective color, Viveza, shadows/highlights.

Do you think I should center this more?

Love the flower and the colors. I would give it a tad more room on our left as the one petal towards the top, the one with the curl at the tip, is a bit too close to the frame edge. Give it the same amount as its counterpart on the opposite side of the frame.

Hi Anita....I like this as is....You might consider toning down the top just a bit!

Hi Anita, beautiful blossom. Dahlias are perfect for this type of image. Agree with Arthur on giving the one petal some more room. Nice work!

Anita, I love Dahlias too. Good suggestions above and I agree w. a tad more room on the left. I do see some petals left and top that could be toned down. Maybe a hint more sharpness in the center. Nice composition and capture.:S3:

Hi Anita. Beautiful colors and interesting patterns. The centered comp works well with this type of image. The tweaks mentioned above (comp and sharpness) will make this strong image even better! :S3:

Hi Anita, I can see why you love these flowers! Centering a little more would be a good idea, but I guess you would clip the curled petal on the left (which might be an alternative solution for it being too close to the frame. Agree about adding a little sharpness to the centre. You may have wanted to stop down one or two stops for a tad more DOF.

Great looking flower, wonderful bold composition and color, Anita! Good suggestions, and I would be tempted to reduce some of the yellow just a bit. Nice work! :S3:

Hi Anita, you've done a great job of capturing a beautiful flower! Lots of good suggestions have already been given so I won't repeat those but instead of toning down those lighter petals on the edges, I think a light vignette might be the way to go. Give it a try and let me know what you think. :S3:
