Why is there a 15 second delay between searches?

A member is in the middle of preparing a post and needs some information from the site. Instead of being able to get on with business, you have to sit and wait 15 seconds between each search!

Why?

It helps prevent denial of service attacks - bots running that continually perform searches and using up large amounts of resources on the server.
This is very common on forums.
