Image created a week ago in Plymouth MA.

Late afternoon / early evening with a falling tide. The birds had a few moments beforehand been dive bombed by a large peregrine female and I managed a couple frames of this bird as it came into land almost directly in front of my position.

Nikon D300s, 600VR, TC14EII, ISO 400, f6.3, 1/1600, flat tone curve, NearUniWB, CW metering, +.3EV applied.

Gorgeous image, Fenton! The little details are great, such as the tucked in foot and feathers' bending beneath the wing. The frozen bg oof wave is also an interesting detail but not enough to take away from the subject.

A beautiful image. Love the tucked up foot. The details are simply super.

The only thing distracting is the wave under the left wing almost touching it.

The colors and details here are delectable, Jim. Love this moment captured, awesome low angle, perfect EXP and sharpness. Such a great look at those young feathers.

I almost put this in the recycle bin because of that back wave but with the eye contact best on this particular frame, I couldn't :)

Jim:

The bird is extremely good, sharp, well exposed, neat pose, good low shooting angle. Nice colors, and I like all the wave action except that big one under the wing.

Did you get any of the falcon attack?

Cheers

Randy

Negative....I was too busy cursing her for putting m,y subjects up on a perfect outgoing tide and a perfect location :)

I was shooting laying on wet sand right at the waters edge and I'm not agile enough to get up that fast....so I had fun sitting up and watching.

Exceptional focus, the bird is dancing on the water.
I don't mind the wave beyond at all, in a perfect world, you would have a perfect shot without the wave.
It is not a perfect world, but the photo is really good.

Wowie this looks great!! Lots of action here between the pose and the waves. I agree about the wave almost touching the wing, but all else heavily outweight this. Love the view of the black armpits...no doubting the species!!

Incredible pose and great SH. I actually like the big wave under the wing as it roughly matches the shape of the bottom of the far wing. It looks as if you lightened the shaded underwings quite a bit as they look smooth and sort of glowing.

Superb image -- excellent focus, nice pose, lovely setting. The bird looks as if it's walking on the water.

Awesome image. Great pose caught with a super low angle. The wings are great and the water movement is so cool like he's lifting that one foot to make way for the waves:cheers:

Artie...

No work at all on the under wings. I think that they picked up a bit of a bounce from the water, plus the l;lighting was at a very low angle.

One of the best bird images I have seen this year ...this is adorable and I wouldn't want to change a thing.
