Hyena stand off # 2

Here is a follow up to my previous image showing the overall scene. With reference to the LRC, it was shot as shown, as I only wanted to show part of the kill. Cleaned up a part of the river bed LLC.

I like the hierarchy on predator/scavengers going from lion to hyenas to jackals, Stuart. Pity about the large hyaena looking away from the action.

Super story-telling shot here Stuart, setting the scene. I like your composition and the line-up of meat-eaters as noted by Tony above. Seems you have dealt with any colour casts well here. The one hyaena looking away doesnt worry me as they are quite far off and not necessarily the main focus of the image for me. I like how the lioness has her ears turned toward the hyaena to perhaps help her listen to them. Not sure if this image might benefit from some selectively added contrast.....just a little.

Thanks Steve. The kill was an Eland - our largest Antelope, and they are pretty large.

Stuart - I missed the first one of the series so went back and had a look. This is great interaction and you've captured it well. I like the lion's apparent lack of concern in this shot. The repost improves the image and I like the almost diagonal formed by the placement of the kill, the lion and the hyeanas. Looking forward to the next installment.
