Yet another Killdeer (sorry, can't resist, it's one of my favorite birds :)

1/1000, f8, iso 640

Cropped from the right for a 10:8.
I was tempted to do a bit of clean up and possibly lighten the oof darker strip, but left it alone. I should have raised the camera up an inch or two.

Sid this is awesome image that too with such a perfect kill :) may be a little crop from top or addition of some space on right would make this more lovely to me. from techs it seems you might have gone further more on aperture to get the tail also in sharp focus :)

Agree with you about the DOF a 100%, Mital. I kicked myself for a while after coming home and downloading this image yesterday :)
Still haven't gotten completely used to 700mm.

Here's the next frame. I would have probably posted this one had the worm not been touching the chest. But any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sid i loved both just that i am not much lover of 4:3 ratios or likewise.
i have made your 2nd version little sliver from bottom and top and added bit canvas on both side.

Love Mitals repost, but with a touch more space at the bottom. Im in two minds weather I prefer the straight or the squiggly worm...Both are great. Very nice image!

Excellent shot, Sidharth. Great angle and BG. I prefer the first with the stretched out worm, but on a 3:2 aspect ratio.

Hey Sid, I couldnt have drawn a straighter line than the stretched worm.:w3 Great angle from the Killdeer, and I like the space at the bottom in your OP. I would maybe take a touch off the top though. Lovely colours on the killdeer, and the BG is so complimentary. Well captured.

I am for the repost crop with your OP bottom. As for the worm geez I don't know. I like the squiggly one but am with you on the chest thing yet I think I'd still choose it. My only negative with the image is the hidden back foot but you addressed that about your shooting angle. By the way I'll gladly take that 700 mm worth of lens off you if you can't get used to it.:bg3:..

:) It'll certainly see a lot more birds in Florida. But why would you need 700mm there when you can walk up to them with a macro lens ;)
You can take my 300 2.8 to keep your 300 2.8 company.

You nailed this one. Pane 9 is the clear winner. Mital overdid the crop a bit. (There I go agreeing with Ofer again). I am fine with the dof, the sharp eye, and the sharp body. CCL about the tail. I even like the sharp/soft dirt.
