This adult and young Little Blue Heron were photographed seconds after a feeding as the adult flew off. I like how you can really see the similaries between them despite their drastic color differences. Cloned out part of a stick.

Canon 1D3, Canon 400DO & 1.4
F8, 1/2500sec, ISO 640, manual mode
Feisol tripod, Mongoose head

C & C are always welcomed and much appreciated.

Nice comparison shot of adult and juvenile Marina. Sharpness and DOF are excellent. I would have liked a slightly better head angle on the adult, but a different frame probably wouldn't have gotten both birds with wings up.

Marina:

It looks like the parent is doing flapping practice for the juvi!

Agree with Doug, sharp, good DOF, wish adults head turned a bit more away.

When do the juvis start to turn blue?

Cheers

Randy

I really like this one Marina, you can see the juvi looking at the adult, kinda like "give me some advise here will ya" LOL. Great work on techs!

Too very nice wing positions, a very good EXP, and an almost clean (but for the one dead branch in front of the birds) setting. I'd wish for a slightly better head angle for the juvie before I'd wish for one for the adult. Sharp with enough dof.

Wow, this is simply an amazing capture! I really like the vertical comp here and the raised wings of birds are the icing on the cake. Being new to the bird watching world this is very interesting to me - I had no idea this is what the babies looked like!
