On a gloomy birding day, i noticed this Black Wood Spider nicely lit from the back, and thought of making this image.

Canon EOS 20D, Sigma 50-500mm @ 500mm (Handheld)
TV: 1/160
AV: 6.3
EV: -2

Basic PP done in CS3 and very slightly cropped for composition.

Angad, this is well done. I'd be tempted to clone out the one brightly lit curve in the LRS of the frame..it draws your eye away from the subject...and I might tone down the highlights just a smidge in general...but I love the composition, the curved, orange legs of the spider make for a strong compositional element, and you did a wonderful job catching the lighting across the web. Nicely done!

Hi Angad. Nice job hh the 500 mm macro! The backlighting makes a very nice effect and I like your off-center diagonal comp of the spider. I would agree with John about removing the bright curve in the web - a small crop off the bottom would do it - as that will help focus more of our attention on this cool spider. Well done!

Very interesting with the light coming through those orange legs. A tighter crop might work for several reasons and the IQ looks good.
