A snowy egret photographed before sunrise at Little Estero Lagoon. 20D, 500 f/4 +1.4X, 1/180, f/5.6, ISO 400. Converted the RAW image at Cloudy WB and adjusted saturation to enhance the color in the water - but still keep it a pastel effect. I would be interested in what others think of this look.

Looking good Steve That is a magical place pre-dawn !!! Looks like conditions were perfect Love the still water If anything would go brighter Next time try including the exposure compensation !!! Excellent color and feel !!!

Very nice, simple image. I like the color and exposure just fine. I would, however probably get rid of the sticky uppy bit in front of the bird.

Hey Steve, I took a minute and made seem very rough adjustments (no comments on my PS work!! I only did as an example :D) I really like this. I think it would have much more impact if there were a bit more room at the bottom, and less at the top, like in the repost. I also lightened just the Snowy using a levels adjustment layer and masking the Snowy. You did a fine job making this image.

I probably would remove the little stick but other than that this is a very pretty image. Looks like you have a lot of room to go different ways to edit this if desired.

Thanks for your suggestions, Blake. I'll have to give that a try. :) The original does have more room at the bottom so I could go lower.

Steve this is a well captured image. The others have already offered some good advice and I like Blake's example re-work. Overall the soft colours in this image remind me of a pastel painting.

Wonderful head angle and pastels. Going VERT would have been a good plan for the virtual feet...

later and love, artie

Either image version is OK. The pinkish colored bg is a huge plus in making this one work. Very artful, soft and inviting.
