Nickerson has been excellent. I had so much fun during and after the hurricane that I am staying on Long Island for another week. :) This image was created this morning at 7:09am with the Canon 800mm f/5.6L IS lens, the 1.4X III TC, and the EOS-1D Mark IV. Mongoose M3.6 and Gitzo 3530 LS CF tripod. Standing. Central sensor AI Servo AF/rear-focus and recompose.

Don't be shy; all comments welcome.

Artie,
This is absolutely lovely. I love the vertical comp, the perfect HA and the blurry reflection. The image has a soft, sultry, calm, spa like feel to it. Lovely light as well. One of my favorite of yours since I joined BPN!

Artie, loved the calm water and the cleanliness of the image. 'calm after the storm' i guess.

Best bring your ocean yak.... The pools are now about 3 inches deep. Denise and I will be there FRI, SUN, and MON mornings weather permitting.

Artie, serenity at its best, and you couldnt have painted that water any smoother. :w3 The vertical comp suits the pose, and good to see the inclusion of the reflection. Did I mention you nailed the HA too.

Nice subject, and beautiful soft light and colours. I like the subtle gradient to the BG. Although the reflection is not a perfect mirror it is still very appealing. Personally I'd prefer the subject and reflection a bit higher in the frame, but that's just me:S3:

Artie, you say don't be shy, so here I go. I like this photo, but there is one distraction that seems to catch my eye and it is an optical illusion, I am sure. But for the novice like me, can you address the blue tint on the front edge of his breast and neck. I am sure it is just a reflection, but it almost gives the impression of slight CA when I view it on my monitor. Thoughts?

What I like most about this image is the grey calm background and the warm light on the bird. The combination of the colors gives a nice mood to the picture. I would also place the bird and the reflection higher in the frame.
