Might be a first post of this species on BPN, couldnt find in search for Tanagers:2eyes2:

Taken at Cerro Azul in an area of high altitude with lots of planted pine trees. Actually the same private house location where I saw Stripe cheeked Wody and Rufous crested Coquete, sadly I did not get the chance to capture those.

The branch is well oviously not good but these were very shy so had to take the shot - better for the moth /flower, not sure which it is.

40D 1.4 on 100-400 50 crop
sharpened usm, NR Topaz

Beautiful colors in this species Richard. I agree about space below. Have you considered a landscape crop of this shot ?

Wicked cool bird with a moth but the huge perch is a downer as it overwhelms the bird. You, however, did as good as you could have.

tis a shame about the branch but thats how it goes in the wild

Arthur - these are supposed to be common, I saw 2 in 3 months!
