1D Mk III + 1.4Tc
Aperture: F8
Shutter: 1/1250 sec
ISO : 200
Exposure Bias: -1/3

The is one of the images taken in a burst while Panning. In the original image the bird is in the extreme
right of the frame. Have cropped and stretched the frame to the right to create space.

Terrific take-off capture, with great wing position; love the feet just off the ground. I don't think I'd have noticed the stretching on the right if you hadn't pointed it out. On my screen, image feels a bit lifeless. I tried brightening the entire image, and boosting saturation just a bit, which seemed to help.

Great picture :S3::S3:, but let me correct your ID. It's an adult Steppe (Aquila nipalensis) and not an Imperial Eagle.

Roland, thanks a ton for the info. However, I have a confusion. Could you please enlighten me regarding the light patch on the head. I thought that was a sign of the Eastern Imperial Eagle.

I like the take off pose with both feet in air and puff of dust. Good PP job. Agree with Bill that the exposure can go up a bit. Why iso 200?

Hi Ishmeet,

I love the full up position of the wings. I also like that the bird is angled slightly toward the viewer. I think the image was well exposure and with good detail. The little puff of dirt behind the talons adds to the image. Good call on adding canvas ( nicely done as well).

You are right about the pale patch, but Eastern Imperial has a much more extensive pale yellowish rear-head AND hind-neck and not just a patch whereas with Steppe it's more a smallish patch like in juvenile Lesser Spotted. Because of the angle of the wings the whitish shoulder (variable amount of white scapulars) of Imperial Eagle cannot clearly be seen on the picture but it would have been obvious to you when looking at the bird/taking the picture.

Cheers!

As above, I love everything about this one especially the tiny puff of dirt behind the bird.
