On a Salvia flower
Taken last evening with SB600 flash.
Removed some foliage.

Over the top color wise?
They are natural, just flash light.
I tried a desaturated version of the flower, but liked the original better.

Dan,
This is very nice. Love the dark BG. Lovely rufous feather detail. I am OK with the colors but find the bird a bit tight in the frame- if you have more room I would add to the the top and the right.

It's not the colours that are over the top, but the flashed look. The "steel eye", strong shadow along the throat and nack, and big reflections on the petals give it that look. You'd need to raisse the exposure and reduce the flash output...I know this may not "freeze" the action as well but under the circumstances (and single flash) that would be your best bet. I'm also seeing some post processing evidence in LLC. You did time the image very well, and I like the full up wing stroke.

I really like the pose. The upward thrust of the Hummer is dynamic.
