got this one yesterday morning shooting alongside some really good friends at the anhinga trail. there was nothing interesting above and just black below so i decided to go pano with this one. i'd be interested to see what some others came up with here.

all i did here was crop, warm, add contrast and sharpen. that's it. i used USM at 66,5,4. i like it better than robert amuroso's 30,30,0. doesnt seem as harsh to me.

D300, Sigma 50-500 at 72mm, f/29, 1/500s, 0EV, ISO 200

comments and critiques are welcome.....please be brutally honest

I like the image, the colors are good and the change from yellow to orange is nice. The contrast is good also.

Wish the branch wasnt jutting right into the vulture though and I see some haloing around the vultures. The haloing is a little distracting. The USM settings you are referring too just increase contrast. I dont think the image should need much help. Sometimes setting the USM layer to luminance will help avoid halos but with settings like you used I dont think it would help.

Harold - Sun is too bright for me. I'd tone that down a little so it doesn't dominate the image. I really like the color and nice cloud patterns. Nice use of the small f stop.

went back and blew it up and found the halos with no problem at all. what i dont understand is why they showed up like they did. i did not use the brush at all. i see them when i use the brush sometimes and dial it down until they disappear. can someone explain this?

thanks robert!!

I like the overall feel, very nice. Agree about the stick, darn sticks anyway.
