Nikon D200, AI Nikkor 400mm f/3.5 ED-IF on tripod. 1/1600 f/5.6, +2 comp, Aperture priority.
Exposure was a little off, this took me by surprise while shooting a very different subject, I only managed to dial some compensation knowing the meter would be off, but it still came a little underexposed.

Nice find and eye contact. It would be better if the bird were flying toward you. Do you have some in this series that you made a second or two earlier? There is a slight S/H halo visible.

Great reactions to get a "surprise" bird like that one. I might crop it a bit in order rotate the bird so that it isn't gliding down (even if it really was gliding down). Neat to see this big old, ugly bird! Thanks for sharing.

Cute juvenile wood stork. The head angle is good, but the wing positions are less than ideal and it would be better if the bird was flying more toward you. There is a s/h halo visible. Quick reaction to catch the image.
