I just had to keep processing a few frames from my first quick foray into the field with my new Nikon kit on Saturday.
This small herd of springbok gazelle were a little weary and gave me long stares in between chomping down on whatever edible grass they could find on the burnt section they were standing on.
Techs:
Nikon D3s with 500mm f4 VR-II
f5.6 @ 1/2500 SS @ ISO-800

Great sharpness and just the right DOF. The BG really adds to this image - it just looks great all around. BG is soft but you know what it is - attractive w/o drawing the eye much. Nicely presented.

Morkel - congrats on the new equipment. I like the soft colors of this and as Robert said nice and sharp with good DOF.

Nice low angle and light. Like the positions of the subjects with the big trees in the background.

Nice work here Morkel, low POV is great, and the isolation from the bg that you have achieved. I like the cluster of heads all looking at the camera.
cheers

Congratulations on the new gear Morkel! What an expensive hobby we all have!!The never ending money pit...
Anyway, back to your image. It is lovely. I like the pastoral feel to this and the light and the BG. I love the big guy under the tree. A bit like finding something hidden in the "Where's Waldo" game.

Nice "pop" factor here Morkel. The patterns on these animals are striking and provide some nice lines to view.

Good to see you out & about and making use of your new kit, unlike me. Mine is just gather dust at present. :t3
I like the PV, cropping and position, I just personally feel it looks a bit flat?

Kind of... is this going too much Morkel, perhaps there is too much red in mine, just a thought?

Thanks Steve...I prefer my repost as there was a bit of dust around which added to the feel...yours has some nice punch but it's just a tad dark for me. Maybe even somewhere between my repost and yours :t3
