This image was taken a year ago in the 1904 Aviary at the St. Louis Zoo. I cropped the image, removing the portion of the wing where the spoonbill had tucked it's bill and begin to experiment a bit...I used PixelBender->Oil Paint, the Topaz->Clean and final Topaz->Simplify, just playing with the sliders a bit until I got the and effect that I liked. Looking forward to comments and suggestions.

Hi John,
Nice to see you adding a touch of PB to the mix. I like the effect you have achieved and the colors on the RS. The feather in the middle seems a bit hot in my monitor.

Hi John, looks like a winner to me! I like your light touch with the filter and the range of pleasing color. Good, tight frame along with a muted backround. Agree with Susan on the mid feather and might tone it down a bit. Strong image!!

John, Very nice processing. I like the softness combined with that killer eye. I'm fine with the feather tone. Love the colors and the comp!:S3:

Great looking close-up of this Spoonbill, Dave, like the detail in the face, and nice application of PB oil, and Topaz.

Thank you for the comments and suggestions. I toned the highlights down a bit...hopefully someday I'll be able to shoot these in the wild as well!

Awesome job on the repost, John! The slight adjustment was enough to not continue to pull my eye to that bright area. BTW for wild spoonies you want go with Captain Shadle. :w3

Excellent processing and filter work John! Just the right amount of PB etc. and the clear eye really makes it.

Hi John, I love everything about this. The lightly used PB and the tones are beautiful. The only thing I wonder about is evicting the itty-bitty line running down into the eye from the upper eye lid. Love the comp too! :S3:

Thank you for the comments...Jay, I shared this one with you last year after one of our shoots at the zoo...this is a pretty significant crop...wishing now I had tightened the original composition.
