Hello everyone :S3:

I captured this image this morning while out in my Kayak, it was a wonderful morning in the kayak seeing three of these little SS chasing each other around on the muddy shoreline after the big storm we had a few days before.

Techs:

Hand Held
1600 SS
f8
ISO 800

Mark IV and 500mmf4 with 1.4x

All comments and suggestions are very welcomed.

Chad:

Excellent pose, angle in frame, exposure. Nice shooting angle from the kayak.

Because the mud on the right isn't the most attractive, perhaps a more vertical comp would be an option. The pose would certainly lend itself to that.

Cheers

Randy

Absolutely gorgeous light on this one, Chad. The plumes on the wings are actually shining. :bg3: I love the colors on this one, and the raised wings are a huge plus. I personally like the vertical and have no problems with the mud, but it never hurts to try another comp/crop just to make sure.

Excellent! Love the pose and comp as is. This is not a Spotted Sandpiper though...notice the fine barring on the neck, tail, and lack of stripe near the eye. I believe you've got yourself a Solitary Sandpiper...

This is a beautiful image, Chad. I love that pose and the background and shooting angle are fantastic.
I agree with Daniel that this looks rather like a Solitary Sandpiper (which in my experience is much harder to photograph).

Cool shot Chad, great morning light and wing position. Love the birds pose and smooth BG.

Chad, well timed to get the raised wings, well exposed and sharp. As mentioned in Noelle's image, shooting from a kayak must surely be the way to go. Excellent perspective, and I like the BG.

Ahhhh a Solitary Sandpiper, Thanks Daniel.. I'm no good at these shore bird ID's and I really appreciate all the help I can get until I get better at IDing them :e3:e3 Thanks for all the kind comments and suggestions, they are very much appreciated. :S3:

I love this! Beautiful pose, awesome low angle, nice soft light, colours and BG. Composition is spot on - won't work as a vertical IMHO.

I meant that "I personally like the HORIZONTAL." I agree this would not work as a vertical. I think I was tired last night while typing. :e3

Beautiful shot. Great pose and BG. I personally like the horizontal comp and don't mind the mud, although I might have taken just a little bit of the oof mud off the bottom. Don't lean out to far with that 500.
