Taken in Michigan from my Kayak at a small inland lake. Not sure about the ID, Looked on "all about birds" and can't find one that has feathers that resemble this one.

Thanks in advance for you help.

My first guess would be a Spottted Sandpiper, in fall. These birds are fairly simple to identify, as they walk and feed, they constantly bob their tails up and down. From what I've read the chicks also do this almost from birth. Nice closeup image.

I'm going to guess at Spotted Sandpiper but I wouldn't stake my life on it.

You can see some remnant down on the back of the the head (chick). Classic look of the Spotty, even without the spots.

The fresh pale tips on the mantle, covert, and flight feathers also indicate that this is a juvenile Spotted Sandpiper.

The dark sub-terminal bars and light fringes scream juvenile spotty and yes to some remaining down on the back of the head.
