Thought I'd follow Morkel's good looking beast with this hideous creature. Caught this one during a mid-August, early evening shoot last summer, I liked the raised paw and warm light. 40D, 400DO, f5.6, 1/800s, ISO 800, liked this horizontal crop from the vertical capture best.

Hey Steve -- I know you are kidding about "hideous" because this is one cute little fella that just happens to look like it is going to burst out of the screen and start digging around on my computer table. I'm not one to suggest improvements to somebody's work but if I were I wouldn't be able to come up with any ideas on how to make this image any better. In summary.....wonderful image!

Steve this is full of character and the soft evening light has paid off in this image. The raised paw, nose scenting the air, great. Like the idea of taking it just by the burrow too.

Steve - I agree with all of the above, a cutie and the pose and light are great.

Alert posture with raised paw, lines leading to the subject, pleasant light, and a killer BG make this a winner. Well done, Steve!

Excellent IQ as usual, Steve, and the raised paw really adds to the image...you should clean your glasses (if you wear any :w3), this little guy is way cute :c3:.
Soft light has made the details shine.

Sod Poodle??! Did you just make this up or is this a local nickname? BTW, great image for all the reasons mentioned above.

Thank you all for the comments. Appreciate them.

Nancy,
Didn't make that one up, it's an old nickname from the pioneer days. Besides being very entertaining to watch and photograph, they are some pretty interesting animals.

Hey Steve, excellent detail on the 'poodle':w3 and the raised foot shows off the claws very well. I do like the placement, together with the soft light and colours.

Would love to join you one day in the country side. Cheers.
