I am about to leave from Greece in few months , and i was just wonder how the PPL are carry up the tripods . I had a little search in internet
and i see that the most PPL don't take it in the airplain , the most said that they take of the head and the the put it in the suitcase between the
clothes, i think about to get 2-3 lenses with me one body camera , and few other stuff like ext. drive , filters and stuff like that .

I have no experience travel with photografics and any idea would be could .
Im gonna travel from athens to Bulgaria-Sofia , and the companys are goin there straight from Athens is olympic air , aegean air lines , and Bulgaria air .
After this im gonna use the train or bus and i will go deeper to Bourgas City .

Thanks .

Hi kostas
I travelled in recent years to Spain and to Greece, always wiyh ny tripod tied externally to my rucksack. Now my Objectifs are really heavy and various, so I think to carry the tripod in the larger pocket of my photo-jacket (i look like a fisherman!). Hope it will help.

Kostas, when I travel I use a light tripod..this allows me to break it down and put it in my suitcase, just for the flight. Then it stays in the rental car trunk...Hope this helps

kostas I wrote here to you. My tripod is a professional Victory 3000 with a ballhead. It can stay in my large pocket but it must be tied with a belt around. I never had any problem.

Kostas, I used a 4 segment Gitzo that I put in my suitcase. Here in the US and Canada I doubt they would allow a tripod onboard as it could be used as a weapon.
