This small crake is a very shy creature . There was a small pod near my house where this species was sighted . Since the normal distance was a bit further down , I planned to use the 2X TC to get a bit closer .Had the good fortune of getting him so close that I wished he did not approach me any further .

Camera : Canon 1D Mk III
Lens : Canon 600mm f4 IS , 2X TC
Shutters : 1/320
Aperture : f8 ,
Speed : ISO 640
Exp Comp : -.33 EV

Cheers,
Rakesh

Awesome details and sharpness even after using the 2X.

I love the light on the bird, and the fine detail.

Comp is well-balanced and there's a lot of interest in imagining what has the crake's attention. One senses a morsel is a beak-stab away.

The RF leaf may make the scene a little 'busy' for some, but I happen to favor leaving environmental artifacts in the image.

I would consider doing a little NR in FG and BG to further enhance the standout beauty of the bird.

Great low angle and sharp. Looks quite noisy without fine detail though - is it a significant crop?

This is more than 95% of the frame .

The low angle really emphasis on the interaction between the bird and the leaf and I really like that. I might try to run a bit on NR on the whole image and see what happen.

Rakesh, lovely low angle and eye contact. I like the habitat depicted in this image and love the interesting light. Was this in Bombay?

@ Siddarth : Ya , this was in Thane ( E) salt pans . This new ecosystem cropped up in the last 3 years after the salt making was stopped .

Thanks for the info Rakesh.
I'm visiting bbay in Dec and am eagerly looking forward to the trip. It's going to be all about birding and food :w3 [I'm hoping]
