Taken from Jim Neiger's boat in April. The last 2 pics I posted were "dogs":2eyes2: so I am trying to redeem myself with this shot! This is my first attempt at adding canvas. I added 10% to the left of frame and cropped about 15% off right side. Full Frame
Canon 7D
f 2.8 20-200 with 1.4x converter
ISO 640
ss 1/1250
F 5.6
Comments and critiques appreciated!
CS5, double catchlight removed from owl's left eye

Hi Gail. You did pretty well with a tough subject! Placement of the bird in the frame looks good. Sharpness is decent but another round of sharpening wouldn't hurt. Adding canvas can be tricky; there seem to be some repeating patterns on the left side of the frame; try sampling some vegetation on the right side of the frame and cloning at a 50% opacity on the left to eliminate the repeating patterns. Keep up the good work! :S3:

Much better indeed. Eye is nice and sharp. Good position in the frame with room to fly into. Well done.

The repost looks much better...good job Gail! I may still crop a bit at right as the owl seems a bit centered...but very well done:c3:

What a nice image. Looks like his belly is wet? Good job with the alterations....I'm with Daniel on a slight trim from the right, just to move him off center a bit.
