Using some back lighting from the sun and relatively short dof.

7D, 100mm f/2.8 macro, 1/400, f/8, ISO400, Manual, HH

Cut in camera and cropped to a pano.

Hi Dave. The colors and lighting are very dramatic! The yellows are really set off against the dark green and I like the selective focus on the upturned petals in the front. The pano crop works very well here - usually, I might prefer either more, or less, room on each side, but this crop is working for me. :S3: Well done.

I like the pano crop. Good focus point and very nice colors. Good looking one!

Works for me too (I wonder if it is what we call coltsfoot? Tussilago farfara,)

Hey Dave,
In this case.....I'm going against the above as I am not loving the clip on the flower. Love the color, DOF, and pano too......just wish you had the edges for my tastes. You could go in tighter and that may also work a bit better for me.....but as you can see, I am in the minority!
I think you are onto something with the light and shallow DOF.....so keep exploring!

I am with Roman, regarding the clipped petals....The backlight looks very good here and the pano composition is well chosen!
