Canon 1D4, 500mm + 1.4x TC II
1/800, f6.3, iso 500

The evening light was pretty warm. I applied a cooling filter to tone it down a bit.
I wish I had stopped down more get the tail in dof and for a degree of head turn.

Feedbacks and reposts welcomed.

Sidharth, good calling/singing pose, sharp, and just love the overall colours in this. The vertical comp works well, and would only remove the branch LLC. I would be interested to see how the colour tone was before you cooled it down. :w3

Very nice image with quite appealing colours. The singing pose looks good. I agree with your self-critiqued degree more HA (although it is still OK as is), but I am not troubled by the tail at all. Great comp except I would have loved for that separate small twig to also have a few green leaves, and for that reason I think you could do without...

Good job with your self-assessment Sidharth. Love the singing pose and the nice detail. I do think that even though the second twig has no leaves, it still balances out the composition.

Siddharth, I've to disagree with you. HA is perfect IMO. Smooth BG, pose, angle...excellent excellent shot. Very well done.

I agree that more DOF would have been nice. You had head room on the ISO front to stop down.

Great calling pose with nice detail on the body. Didn't notice the tail till you mentioned it as I was busy looking at the detail on the face and the nice leafy perch.

Thank you all for the feedback.
I did leave the second twig for balance in there, but will certainly try without it.

I like the BG. What was it?

It's distant grass and vegetation that is dried crunchy thanks to the extreme drought conditions here.
It does produce some nice warm BGs but we definitely need some rain.

Here you go Stuart. I tried to tame the colors to avoid clipping (cooling filter at density ~15, iirc), but to me somehow the OP lacks a bit of punch. It's a bit flat and I wasn't able to figure out how to add that punch while avoiding clipping. Any feedback much appreciated.

A super calling pose and comp. IMG is sharp and well exposed, the bg is a killer. Well done :S3:
