Nikon D3s 600VR plus 1.4 converter. 1/8000 at f5.6 ISO 640. I would like to know if this works:2 My nit is that the head could be sharper.

Very cool, and very different idea. I think this one will come down to taste. It will work for some and not for others ( I may be wrong) With the SS what it was you definitely could have closed the aperture to f8 or even f9. I suppose heat of the moment you hit the excitement/ panic mode and the brain goes mushy:t3.....I like it!

Nice idea Vivaldo... in two minds still... applaud you for trying something different...
slight colour cast to this image especially in the spacial areas... did you blur areas around cheetah?

Peter didn't use any blur tool but can also see a slight halo around the cheetah, not sure how it got there:2 I did select the cheetah and darkened BKG, this may have cause the halo. I see a blue cast in the shadow area :w3

I have just been playing around with the image .. TBH I would go with a high key back ground(not totally blown as some people do) then this gives the cheetah a sense of walking off in to the unknown

but dont do a selection , no need too.. you can either use the luminosity channels.. or with a bit of care just some adj layers..

Do you make sure you feather your selection slightly before making adjustments?

Thanks everyone for comments and butt suggestions:bg3: Peter will try your idea, I am sure it can work very nicely. Morkel used a quick mask with no feather. I have noticed that the D3 gives a slight halo on light BG ESP skies for some reason. Not sure why:w3

When Morris's "Head Angle" thread runs it's course (never?), here's a ready made replacement :S3:
But birds don't have butts!!! So it will have to be "tail feather angle"??

Anyway, I like the basic concept of the OP, but(t) wondering how the tail could be in different position so not so much merger with leg?? And funny, are those eyes in the back of its head - or the ears turned back? He's recognized the music of a Nikon shutter (not the pesky Canon)???

Actually Vivaldo I think you might need to combine the two images on reflection, as the rear on the RP is too light & looses the nice detail you had, just look at the two side by side and then select the key areas. Sadly the RP is not the same crop otherwise I might have tried to illustrate my point, but you know what to do. :w3

As a lover of "butt shots" I really like this image and the repost really hit the target but then I read Steve's last suggestion which will probably take this up even another notch! Again, great suggestion for use on a back cover!
