Grey Teal (Anas gracilis)
Newport Lakes, VIC, Australia

Tried something a little different for this composition. Absolutely no room behind the bird to work with unfortunately

All comments welcome Paul

great low angle I like the water but would crop from the bottom probably half way between the reflection and the border as there is too much empty space IMO. The body feathers look a bit soft and flat to me, maybe a bit more contrast and curves + slight USM?

the reflection works very well, eye is really red. great work

here is what I had in mind

Great reflection & angle. I also think the OP has too much space at the bottom, if you were to try something different was to have more space on top and less below and I like what Arash has done with the color

Agree with what Arash had done with the crop and colours. Great detail and love that eye.

Very well done from me!:S3:

Lovely image Paul, like the reflection and low angle but do agree with more space on top and less at the bottom. I also like the repost with more contrast

Nice image but the re-post is a big difference. Much more dynamic. The crop makes it work.

Paul, excellent shooting angle and calm water. What an eye. Clearly, there was not a lot of light. I am actually surprised that you could freeze the motion at that SS. Well done.

I also like Arash's version.

Thanks for the comments all :)

I like the added contrast and sharpness in the repost Arash :w3
Still prefer my original comp though as it makes for a more unique image I think and thats something I strive for....just me maybe :e3:bg3:

Great sharp detail and IQ. Like the low angle. Subject is well exposed with good natural colours against a killer DOF. Well done !
