This was taken at Mud Lake in Ottawa, Ontario. It kind of looks like it is smiling at me.

I think it is a Snapping Turtle?

Hey Jeff,
I like your portrait of a snapping turtle here! I do think a few tweaks will help.......pull down the brightness a few points on the water and vegetation. I would then consider a few crops......probably top (eliminating the larger green vegetation in the ULC and a touch left and to keep proportions the rest off the right. While I like the environs....just tightening up the crop a bit will help put more emphasis on the "smiling" face. Still a nice job overall.

Thanks Paul & Roman. I will try your suggestions Roman. Paul maybe he was looking at my fingers the way I look at chicken fingers....:S3:

Hi Jeff. A nice capture of a snapping turtle! My experience is that these guys are rather timid when in the water - but when you find one on land, watch out! Roman has covered my thoughts exactly so I won't repeat - I think those tweaks will take this one up a couple notches. :S3:

Love that face & smiling look to this snapper, Jeff, nice capture. The bits of water plant on his head are a nice touch. Good suggestions by Roman, think a bit tighter crop would work well.

Nice image of snapper.. like the pose of head. Agree with others.. there is more light around water. you should tone them down.. and few crop as roman comment. but overall.. nice shot this turtle..:S3:
