Vivaldo - Very sharp and a pleasing bg. Nice detail and catchlight. I know some people aren't fans of square crops but I think this image calls for one or at least a fair amount off the top.

I like the way this squirrel just seems to appear out of the image. Good use of dof to isolate it and the tonal range and softness of background is very nice. Love the clarity of the whiskers.

Agree with the above. DOF isolates this so well. I think the square crop might do you well, too, but it's your call on that. Good eye catch.

Lovely complimentary colors and I feel the crop works nicely here...Super peeking out pose! Very nice Vivaldo

interesting perspective Vivaldo - great DOF and sharpness...do you have any of these in horizontal format?

Thanks Morkel :S3: I have another one that is in horizontal format but it's not exactly the same, it has this guy looking out and another OOF squirrel in the BG.

The 'mush' works well and I like the placement within the frame, nice to see an alternative POV. Looks like the light was quite harsh, as I feel the imge is a little contrasty, WDYT?

Steve my thoughts are the same, after looking at this image a few times it's definitely too contrasty TKS :S3:

Perhaps a little Highlight/Shadow may help, might take a look?

This might have gone too much the other way as there is very little info within the file, but I feel you can get a lot more out from the original file that is being a little choked by the blacks in it. I might also try and smooth out the darker smudge patch below the whiskers?

Hope this might help.

Here's my version Steve, back off on contrast as suggested, WDYT :w3:S3:

The BG now looks a little flat to me, it's lost a little richness? All I did was duplicate the layer and work on that and then added +4 brightness. Best comparison is to look at the eye on the two versions. Certainly it has more detail now in the face IMHO. :w3

I am half asleep today, forgot to add a bit of saturation to this image. I still prefer your version when comparing the two:w3

Vivaldo, the comp works well as is, and just love how he is peering out into the image. Steve's repost has sorted out the darker area below the whiskers, but overall, still well captured.

A unique ' ground ' level perspective of these active little fellas !!!!! Great reposts
