Another bald eagle from this winter. I was on the shore taking pictures of long-tailed ducks when he landed on the ice. Lucky me!
Canon 7D
100-400mm lens at 400mm
Manual F 6.3
SS 1/1600
cropped by 20% all around
As always, I love critiques and comments.

Love the raised wings and the underwing detail (I'm sure the ice/snow helped with this). Great setting...right place, right time.

You did very well with your exposure here and good details under the wings. Love the wing position and good angle on the BE. Love how the ice really helps to tell a story here.

Beautiful eagle and capture, Gail! I agree, very nice job with exposure, nice pose and detail. What a pleasant surprise visitor, and way to take advantage of the moment.

Excellent image Gail. Very nice exposure control.
I am a big fan of NIK filters Tonal contrast and it is quite amazing how much details it can bring out of show. I ran it quickly on your image and hope you dont mind.

I don't mind at all and thank you.! Your Nik filter makes the image pop a bit more! I will have to learn how to use it once I have learned Cs5 a bit better.
I did no PP on this picture except for cropping and sharpening.

Gail, very nice image!!

The details Sid brought out with the filters are excellent.

Did you see any long-tailed ducks that day?

Christopher,

Here is a link to NIK Filters Color Efex Pro 3.0.

This is a filter suite and I used tonal contrast filter (my favorite) which helps in selectively adjusting contrast in highlights/mid tones and shadows.

Gail, great timing to capture the wingspread on landing. Nicely placed in the frame, sharp, and I do like the unfamiliar enviroment this guy would normally find himself in. Sid's repost does put this up a notch.
