Congratulations Alan Murphy for your image "Painted Bunting Top Shot" being chosen as the Avian Image of the week for the week ending 5/20/2011!!!
Workshop: Lagune Seca Ranch. S. Texas
D3, 600, ISO 640, f7, 1/1250.
Here's another image from last weeks S.Texas workshop.
I cloned out a branch near the bottom of the frame. Not the sharpest image in my file, but not one I'm throwing away either. We had at least 6 Painted Buntings at our pond for most of the time, giving us many great photo opportunities.
When the Green Jays flew in to the feeder, the small birds (Buntings, Grosbeaks etc) would take off. Once I saw a Green Jay staging to fly in, I just focused on a small bird and started firing as the Jay launched.
