Taken early last year in the Kruger National Park, South Africa. I was testing out Nikon kit and was very impressed with the results.
This was taken in light rain.

Techs:
Nikon D3s with 70-200mm f2.8 VR-II @ 200mm
f2.8 @ 1/500 SS @ ISO-1250

I like the textures of the wet fur and the IQ is outstanding. Shallow DOF worked really nice here especially with the OOF ares close to the subjects. Conditions looked pretty tough looking at the settings but you handled it nicely...Not sure if the head on of the two impalas makes for a great image but the rest of the techs are excellent.

Good IQ considering the conditions, like the wet look on the coats of these two. Interesting to see the different development of the horns.

Morkel - nice colors and you handled the lighting well. I like the face to face pose. There's a blur in the llc that is either oof grass or maybe rain on the lens. I would crop it out.

Yep, gotta love that new VRII on the 70-200 Morkel, giving a very nice OOF BG.
I'm seeing a touch of blue cast on the impalas here, a slight warming of the WB may also fix.

An endearing moment Morkel and perhaps a bit of male bonding here too, if they are brothers?:S3:

I agree with Marc, there is a slight blue cast overall, which, when removed I feel shows more detail in the subjects and proves just how good the image and lens are.

Hope you don't mind the repost. :w3

Come back t take a second look...I like it and can now see what you were trying to capture and portray. I do like Steves repost as the colors look better...Did not notice the blue cast on the lodges computer. Should rather comment on my own computer!

thanks for all the comments!

Steve, thanks for the repost, didn't really notice the cast this time (though I normally pick them out easily :e3), your repost rocks :c3:

Cheers Morkel, glad you liked it, considering the little amount of file info contained in these postings it's amazing what you can do & get out of them. I envy you the thought of the using the Nikon kit. :w3
