Sorry for my lack of posts lately folks. I have been off on a 3 week road trip through the interior of British Columbia. It was a great trip with lots of memorable encounters. I thought I'd start off with this one that I hope you will enjoy.

All the best!

This is a killer Loon portrait, Glenn. The light is great. Love your usual low angle, as well as the feel of the soft water and BG. The water and BG just about blend into each other. Love the irridescence on the bird's neck and the water droplet! I guess that means there's nothing about it that I don't like.

Looking forward to seeing images from your trip.

Marina took the words right out of my mouth :S3:. Beautiful and perfectly done! Oh, I see she didn't mention the cool reflection in the water!

Simply stunning. This is an absolute beauty. Probably the best loon portrait I've seen.
Minor issue (to me) is the sharpening halo around the head.
Wish is that this were posted bigger (1024 pixels wide).

This is superb. I am drooling with envy( just like the loon!) The low angle, the drop of water, the still water are perfect. 10 out of 10 from me:cheers:

About as good as it gets Glen. Perfect head angle and exposure, excellent sharpness, and a low shooting angle. Water droplet is a big plus, as is the iridescence.

Glenn:

Excellent> You have set the bar high for this seasons loon images.

Were you shooting from a boat, in the water, on the shoreline? Excellent angle.

Cheers

I think about images like Glenn's whenever I'm out in the field debating whether to get on my belly. There's no substitute for . . . a great angle.

This is a very impressive portrait shot, Glenn.
I would say if I wanted a loon portray picture on my wall, this would be it.
The strongest features of this picture IMO has been that it shows all the shades of green and purple in the head that you see very rarely in pictures posted.
The other ones are the low angle, the fantastic background and water, and the water droples on the head and the dripping water from the beak.
