Hi Harshad, he does look happy, the 'cat that got the cream'.

Personally I don't find the composition working, I get the feeling it's all pushed into the RH corner with to much dead space to the left, sorry, no pun intended. Also I feel there should be more space below where the paw is clipped, simply by moving the whole crop/camera down. Perhaps a tighter crop might be a better option, excluding the partial head of the RH lion which adds no addition to the image.

Would have been tempted to shoot wider and moving to your left getting more of the lions feeding, using the 'spine' (?) as the centre point if that makes sense.

Could be the answer Sid, hadn't thought of flipping it, like the thinking.:S3:

Still think a tighter crop helps, but it does emphasis to me the lack of space needed at the bottom?

The final repost is my favorite. The tight crop really emphasizes the lick and the lion's delight.

Flipping does not change the issues that Steve identified in the first post which I agree with. I also feel a tighter crop was needed as Steve showed.

To me the better composition is a vertical of the front of the lion with the paws not clipped and the spine of the kill.

Hi Harshad, great behaviour captured. Tend to agree with a tighter verical crop which should focus attention on the action.

I do agree with the compositional critiques raised by Steve and Robert, and I don't think flipping the image addressed those nits, though I do like the look of the flipped image, and the tighter crop also helps.
