Excellent capture Chris. Very sharp with good exposure.

To be clear, did you use the 300mm f/2.8 and Canon's 2X Extender? Is this the version III extender?
I have a personal interest since I use a 300 2.8 and should receive the 2X TC ver III tomorrow.
I've spent many hours trying to capture good shots of kingfisher with little success. In North America they are very elusive.

Well done.

BG sets this off nicely and the fish is a big bonus.

The shadows are quite pronounced due to the lighting, but you captured excellent detail and the bird is about as parallel to the sensor as you can get for a flight shot. Would have preferred the wings to be raised a tiny bit more, but that's a minor nit. I like the BG - just blurred enough, but with some texture and some different colors. I would have cloned out the second, tiny catchlight.

Good timing, very sharp as posted, and I like the fact it still has prey in its bill for this flight image. Light looks like it was harsh (as you mention), but handled best it could for this contrasty subject. I like the BG, but would tone down the lightest streak passing behind the face, and I too would prefer a better wing position.

excellent sharpness and details and a nice BG. fish adds a lot too, I have no problem with light just wish the wings were in better position, still a great shot

Thanks for all the comment I would have like for a better wing position myself but unfortunately the next frame were cut :S3:
Joe I'm using the 2x MK II & 1.4 MK II converter's and am very please with the AF and IQ.

Tack sharp Chris, and the PK pops so well from the BG. You have also exposed him so well. His catch a bonus.

Great timing and image here Chris. Pity the wing position.
