Nice look-back shot Jack, with good eye contact and a nice head angle. The subject looks slightly desaturated to my eye. Reds (and sometime yellows) can look over saturated right out of the camera and often need to be toned down a bit. He also looks a little dark against the background.

Jack, I love the pose and the perch. I think your image could be improved a bit with a crop from the bottom up half-way to the tip of the tail.

Hello Jack, this is an interesting composition. I'm undecided about the long branch on the right, it almost seems too big for the small bird in the corner of the frame. I think Wendell has a good point about cropping from the bottom and I wonder if you considered cropping a bit from the right and cloning out that branch? I think the idea would work better if the bird were bigger, but not sure. I really like the pose and the look you are getting here. I would wish for a bit more sharpness on the cardinal.
