Haven't posted on the avian forum in a while. We got out to Nickerson Beach (Long Island NY) today. These guys seemed a little less skidish than normal. Canon EOS 7D with 600mm, ISO640, f/7.1, SS 1/3200. Had to get down on my stomach for this one, which I learned last year on the same beach when I met met Artie there. Cropped just to straighten it out a bit.

I have to admit I'm kinda liking the sidelighting here, but I do find the highlights too strong. Nice smooth water, and the low angle works very well. Love the water drop! I'd be tempted to crop a bit more at bottom, and add some above.

A nice action pose, Nick, with good sharpness and a low shooting angle. I would agree with Daniel about the highlights. Also, the eye has a very glassy look - selectively darkening the pupil would make a big difference here and would take this one up a notch or two. :S3:

Really like the raised foot. Nice exposure in the whites as well. Would like to see more of the reflection.

Love the glassy look of the water..Brights are a bit bright and agree re cropping suggestions! Love the foot up pose and droplets!
