I am not completely sure about the interesting lighting here, but I think I like it.

I would try and do something about the oof material to the left. It distracts from the subject.

Interesting lighting. Could you share your specs here, i see no flash mentioned, and the bkg lighting is falling off.. Just curious, this is unique and cool, however do agree, distraction to the left.

The bird was fishing and then perched on a branch with sunlight shining on that area only, the rest was in the shade. The shot was handheld-only got 5 shots in-the first 3 OOF, then the bird flew away. I agree about the area in front of the bird.

Hi Ben, the colours certainly stand out against the darker BG, and good to see his catch. Increasing your ISO, and opening up to around F/6.3 would have given you more ss, and then a little + EC may have given you more exposure on the little guy. I also dont know the actual conditions. Where was this BTW?
