Nice pose and I like the slight head turn. It seems a little tight in the frame esp. on the bottom. I might try to blend the light band on the top. Nice details:S3:.

Thijs,

Good looking bird. Head turn right for good sharpness and not letting the shadow develop on the face.

Next time leave more room on the bottom for the feet you cannot see (a.k.a Virtual Feet). My preference is not too let BG lines of color or sharpness translations intersect birds at odd locations - in this case at the head. Those lines act to draw your viewer's eye from the subject.

I'm going to second Robert's excellent critique. A higher or lower vantage point will take care of the intersection problem.
