Taken off the top of my fence the other day, these clematis plants never fail to make me smile in the spring.

f4 @ 1/160th, ISO 400
Late day sun, natural light, Sunny WB, pattern metering

It took me a while to figure out the (clever) title. :-)

Wonderful selective focus. Especially like those little hairs--the in-focus one and the blurred ones. Nice angle up and out of the frame. Lovely greens. I think you handled the whites well.

Very nice, Jules. The bokeh is an excellent complement to your subject. But I do think I would prefer the entire subject to be sharp.

Hello Julie,

I like the diagonal here and the nice and uniform green bg. The exposition is well mastered but the only thing in my opinion is that I would have use a shorter aperture in order to get focus on all the subject.

Bye and TFS (Thanks for Sharing)...

Michel

This one made me smile when I saw it on FB and seeing it here is making me smile again! :S3:

I think I would have preferred for it to be all in focus but the smile factor helps make up for the lack of DOF. :bg3:

It took a second for me too, but then I got it. :bg3: Very imaginitive and well seen, Jules.

Very well seen, Julie. I like it as is, and the OOF parts does not bother me at all...Nice fun factor too :S3:

Thanks everyone...it was meant more for the smile factor than for photographic expertise but it was the best image of the bunch. I'm going out to try this again now that the plants have more shoots on them - perhaps I'll have more luck getting the elusive focus to work throughout.

Hi Jules. Yup, it took me a while too - I wonder if "Hands up or I'll shoot" would be a little easier for us folks who are a little dense at times? :bg3: Nicely seen and photographed.

Hey Jules,
If you are doing this on a tripod.....use live view zoomed in! Helps a ton! A fun image handled Very nicely!
