Male Flock Bronzewing photographed at a waterhole in far NW New South Wales. These birds inhabit arid grasslands of inland Australia, and come and go depending on erratic rainfall.

Canon 7D, EF500 f/4 + 1.4x, tripod, kwik camo, ISO400, f/8, 1/1250, slight crop for composition, an oof stem covering primaries digitally toned down.

Lovely pose and great shooting angle.

My guess would be lower catch light would be reflection off water and I would remove if mine.

I really like this very well done habitat shot. Good for you.

Wow this is close for this species. I saw these up in Sturt N.P. last year and we could not get within 200 yards of them without them flushing.

They would flush, circle around, land, drink ( they were at a dam), flush...

'They would flush, circle around, land, drink ( they were at a dam), flush... ' Yep that's them Tom - I spend three mornings under qwik camo before one finally landed within camera range.
