Hey Joshi,
not sure why.....but the whole image looks a bit "muddy".It is probably the light.......but could also be something you did in PP'ing. If yo uhave one.....a reflector or even some foil to bounce a bit of light back into the LH side of the rose would help while you are out in the field.....so just keep that in mind.

Darkening the BG a good move on this one, Joshi. I would also crop most of the empty space from the left to enhance the composition and remove some distracting elements. Good suggestion from Roman regarding reflector; another option would be to use a diffuser to soften the light (especially if you have something large enough to diffuse the light on the BG also).

Hi Joshy, the image looks underexposed. You've got at least one stop before you start clipping the reds. There's also a lot of noise in the shadows, which could easily be solved with a little noise reduction.
You should pay more attention the BG of your image. Because your camera has a lot of DOF even at large apertures, distracting elements don't blur as nicely as one would like. Low angles with the first objects in the BG far away should give you a cleaner BG.

Hi Joshi. You've received lots of good suggestions above. I think that you will find that when shooting in bright sun, use of a diffusion screen and a reflector will make a major difference in your photo. (You may need to enlist an assistant to position these things while you take the photo. :S3: )
