I've been playing with this lily for a week trying to get the stamen to line up just how I wanted them while getting all the yellow through orange tones to shine through. Tonight, right before sunset, I finally got it!

Canon 40D, EF 100mm macro plus extenders
f5 @ 1/250th, ISO 400
Manual mode, evaluative metering, natural light
Processed in ACR & CS5; crop off the top, curves, color balancing adjustments

This is a beautiful abstract Julie. The special aspect of this image which enhances its aesthetic value is its almost monochrome nature with stripes (stamen) of different shades of yellows.

Way to go!!! I like the subtle tones in this and you have excellent sepration in the stamen! Might just twek the lower area of the 2nd and 3rd stamen.....to get a hair more sepration at the base......but minor tweak to a very creative and very well done image!:cheers:

Excellent abstract, Julie! Lovely use of color and line. You nailed what you were after. The only thing I would change would be to move the left-most line out of the UL corner--either crop a bit from the left to move it down the side or add a little canvas and clone/quick mask in more BG. But I know some prefer lines going through the corner and work hard to accomplish exactly that. Very well done. :5
