Nice rendition. I have been there. I like the leading line of the river, the bush in the lower right that balances the mesa and the tree line is colorful and floes nicely in the image and below the mesa with a few different layers.

Hey Gary,
Did you try this as a pano? By taking out a bit of sky (since it isn't that exciting) I think it would emphasize the butte and the river.
