This is the first time I had seen one of these and was able to catch a quick shot before he took flight.

I like the pose and the color palette Thomas. Good detail in the blacks. Sharpness could be better. I would place the bird slightly higher in the frame.

You show nicely the horns and the long nails on back toes, this bird have. I agree with Doug about sharpness and would also like to see different compositions from this one.

Thank you Mikko and Doug. Agreed that this image is soft, I tried to sharpen a bit, but since it is cropped significantly, I am limited. I took the shot from my car hand held as fast as I could get it taken before he flew off. Here is a repost with some sharpening and re cropped per suggestion.

Beautiful bird and BKGR. The horns are as sharp as the barbs on the wire. The repost is a big improvement.

Man, I see these guys every year during migration but never got one with the full horns up. I wish for at least a peak of the tail, but good image overall. The re-crop is way better, especially with the full barb at right.

Thank you Artie and Daniel. Sorry I missed the tail, he didn't sit long so I got what I could. I actually drove past him at first, realized what he was and backed the car up to grab a quick shot.
