At last light and from where else but with Capt. Shadle and the Hooptie Deux:S3: I had to shift a bit right or left to hide distracting elements behind the spoonbill without introducing some others from out of the frame, and the rest is just about as clean I could get for that particualr spot. Quite memorable to be able to get so close to these guys. Thanks again James!!

Canon 30D + 100-400L @400mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/125s., f/6.3, ISO 400, +0.3 EC, natural light, handheld (got my butt wet for this one!)

Fantastic light. Very nice details visible. I hope that I did in early May in Fort Mayers also catch. Very beautiful photo.

The colors here are truly spectacular, Daniel, and you have great details. You did well working with a difficult BG. I like the central pose on this one. Who says the 100-400 isn't sharp?

As above, plus I like that the leg is centered and surrounded by the rocks. Something looks weird to me with the head, face, and bill; could that area be slightly over-sharpened???

Daniel, I love the lighting. Worth getting wet for.

The elegant pose of the spoonbill and the exceptional quality of light makes this a big winner in my eyes.

This image really makes me want to head out with Mr. Shadle!
