The picture is from Norway. 40km from where I live there is a small nature reserve. Photo of Dunlin comes there from. 1100 is the largest number of shore bird I've had in a day, and 18 different species. Data Conon 1D MK III, LF 500mm 4.0 IS, ISO 100, 1 / 2000, F4, 0 Date 18 August 2008

Detail is magnificent and the low angle adds to an already fine image. Wish for the bird to turn a bit more towards the camera , but they never listen.:w3

Very neat perspective! Looks like you had a bit of foreground elements between you and the subject's legs but I like it. A head turned at least parallel to the sensor would have been a great bonus. I would tone down the black dot in front of the thigh.

Sounds like a very productive area!

Gorgeous, richly-colored image. Light is evocative of early evening or early morning. Issue with bird's angle to the camera already mentioned. I would remove the white dots from the legs.

they never listen.
Joe, sometimes they listen if you whistle or chirp at them! Really, sometimes that works as a way to get a bird to alter its position to something more photo-favorable.
