Hi folks!
Here's a small rapid from a stream near my house. Please give me your honest (read brutal :D) opinion.

Paul,

I think your onto something (idea wise) but this is not quite there at least for me. Its not that the composition is all that bad, perhaps its a "lack" of drama. I did a high-contrast treatment in PS and that did not do it for me and then I went into filter gallery and played around with those affects and found some I liked. Might be something that you wish to investigate.

Hi Paul,
I think the composition is OK here as the rapid has a nice curve to it along with the wave in front. I think the drama Robert is looking for might have actually been achieved with either a faster shutter speed (as it is very bright) or had you gotten some colored light from either the shore/sky/or fall colors. Another posssible choice is very slow shutter speeds (4seconds or more) but with the bright light that you had.........without special filters.......impossible.
Let me know what you think,
Roman

i was thinking the slower shutter speed myself, but roman is right, too much light to do that. i think you are on to something here.

roman, is that a b&w treatment?

Thanks for the comments!!

I'll have to look. Which filters did you like? Not sure if I'll have all that CS has, (I use PS E5).

The b-and-w looks cool, thanks for the idea!!

I like Roman's B&W version. I never got around to trying a conversion after messing with the filters. I would go with that Paul as a good alternative to the filters. If you use filters, you have to post that in the Out of the Box forum.

I forgot which one I liked so will have to go back and try it again and let you know.
