Just back from 5 days photographing (or at least trying) Greater Prairie Chickens and Plains Sharptail grouse in Eastern Colorado and Western Nebraska. Struggled with the weather and only got 2 good mornings. Nothing at all on sharptails. No crop as per norm...

I've never seen this species before - this is quite a bird with a interesting posture. I assume those are air sacks that inflate during courtship displays?
