Haven't done a lot of landscapes but the sunsets in Naples, Florida were too gorgeous to not try.

Canon 50D
16-36 @ 16mm
1/80
f16
ISO 400
Flash and circular polarizer. Cropped to pano, levels adjustment and sharpening in CS5.

C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

Rachel,

I like how you balanced out the sun with the pier. As I am a big fan of "soft water", I would suggest that next time you go for a longer shutter speed. This can be achieved with lowering ISO, closing down the aperture (make sure sensor is clean as dust really shows), or using a neutral density filter.

I want to see better separation between the pier walkway and the background. In the repost, I created a BG copy with a mask, set the blending mode to Screen to lighten the image and painted black on the left side of the mask.

Hi Rachel. agree with Robert's comments and like his subtle adjustment to the pier. The pano crop works well along with the composition. I might take out that small pink circle in the water near the center of the pier. Well handled!

Thanks Bhavya, Robert and Dave. Here's a repost trying to incorporate the suggestions.

Nicely done Rachel, love the balance between the sun and the jetty and the diagonal line of the shore. I think Robert's pier has a bit more separation, but I like your repost. You should definitely do more landscapes!

Nice sunset Rachel. Sunrises & sunsets are my two favorite landscapes, maybe that is because both are in the golden hours.:S3:
